One week ago I signed up for Hospice care since the tumor in my back continues to grow and did not respond to the chemo treatments. Hospice will control any pain and do all that is possible to make me comfortable.
This week was very encouraging. Besides celebrating my birthday, we had several visits from friends and phone calls from folk we haven’t talked to for quite awhile. Isn’t it wonderful to have friends?
My highlight for the week from God’s word is Matthew 24 where Jesus said, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” With the tumor sucking the energy out of me, I don’t feel like watching for anything. Then I had this image of me lounging on the couch with a bag of potato chips watching a game show on TV. There is a knock at the door and as I look through the peek hole I see Jesus! Wow! Do I invite Him in or try to clean up my act first?
Maybe you’ll be challenged, as I am, and spend more time watching and preparing for His return. Please continue to pray that I’ll end well. He has promised to never leave me~and He hasn’t!
Thanks again, Ed, for a wonderful post. We continue to pray that you will end LATER -- that the Lord can and will bring healing to you as He did to so many incurable cases in the scriptures. But thank you for the challenge to be ready, so that we end well - whether that means our earthly "end", or His return in glory. Maranatha! - Bill
ReplyDeleteEd, it is encouraging for us to read your diligent, prayerful, beautiful posts. Thank you for sharing your deepest thoughts out loud. And what better encouragement than the Word?! none, save to see THE WORD in His Person...oh, Glorious Day, Halleljuia. as Bill said, not that I wish it soon...but YWHW thru His Word is preparing us all, if we but believe. thanks, Ed. YSIC, love, Dawn
ReplyDeleteYou are an inspiration Ed. Thanks for inviting us to your blog site. Sally and I just celebrated our 35th year of marriage. I hope God blesses us with 20 more years together as you and Mary have been blessed. Our small group has been studying Revelation and we are convinced His return is very near. You may precede us by a little while, but I don't think it will be long before we are there celebrating with you in that glorious place He has prepared for us! We are praying for you and after reading your posts we praise God that you ARE finishing well. You ARE in inspiration, my friend. Love, Bill and Sal
ReplyDeleteHi brother, while there is great sadness in my heart regarding your body's condition, there is great hope in your eternal perspective. Few people are as effective a witness as you were in life and now in death. We are all getting there but death comes suddenly for some and it seems the Lord trusts you with being a good witness in knowing your time table. Thank God for His hope and His rest. I'll be praying for your comfort and I envy that you'll beat me to Glory.
